SAM Workshop // Printing Press Session

  • Saint Albans Museum 9 Church Street Saint Albans City, VT, 05478 United States (map)

This is part of a day of 250th commemoration in SAM's Bliss Room on April 18th. Printing Press Session is a companion event to our afternoon talk about The Underwater Archaeology of the American Revolution from 1-3 pm. Please sign up for one or both events. Both events are free and geared toward adult audiences.

Hosted by SAM and guided by A Revolutionary Press, this morning gathering is a great way to relax, try your hand at printing press, and meet some new people in a cozy, creative environment.

The Event

SAM Workshop features artists and crafters, whose artistry has the power to bring people together to strengthen the local social fabric. The workshops are less focused on technical skills and more focused on creative ways to engage with the themes, stories, and collective history at Saint Albans Museum.

Printing Press Session will feature a couple different models of vintage printing presses that participants can use to reproduce imagery that explores the American Revolution, The Vermont Republic, and general imagery from the Museum Collection.

No experience is necessary. You must be 18+ to register. All materials are provided. Space is limited, so if you cancel, please let us know so that we can offer your space to the waiting list.

The Artist

A Revolutionary Press

John Vincent is a retired police officer, letterpress printer, and published poet by virtue of the fact he is the director of A Revolutionary Press. A Revolutionary Press, located in New Haven, Vermont, was founded in 2008 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit letterpress print studio. Everyone working at the Press is a volunteer who donates their time and talents for the Common Good.

Volunteer artists and typesetters print the old fashioned way, one l-e-t-t-e-r at a time with hand set metal and wood typefaces and antique hand and foot powered printing presses, in an attempt to present work which can be viewed not only artistically but also intellectually.
